Darren W. Hales

Darren W. Hales

Darren began as lighting designer with Lord Byng on their production of My Fair Lady in 2005. Other notable designs with Byng include Unity 1918, Urinetown, Cabaret, The Laramie Project, Young Frankenstein, Curtains: The Musical, Moby Dick: The Musical, The Doctor in Wonderland and last year's multimedia production of Concord Floral.

Some other recent projects include lighting for The Addams Family Musical (Matthew McNair Secondary), The Lightning Thief (winner - Best Lighting Design - 2023 Ovation Awards) & The Wizard of Oz (CTORA), and the Arts Club's recent production of Moms The Word - Talkin' Turkey. One of Darren's favourite designs was for The Lightning Thief (CTORA) with over 440 lighting cues! A record for him...but maybe Mamma Mia will top that...who knows?!

He wishes to thank his partner, Isaiah, for all his love and support through this massive project.
